Frank Moore Wild Steelhead Sanctuary Video

Category: Film & Video | Posted by: Paul Moinester | 8/31/16 | Comments: 0

Summary: Frank Moore has been fly fishing for more than 80 years, he's dedicated his life to conserving and protecting his home watershed, the North Umpqua. Now we have a chance to honor him.

Our friends Pacific Rivers and Shane Anderson have teamed up to make a new short video featuring Frank Moore and the proposed steelhead sanctuary bearing his name. The proposed¬†Frank Moore Wild Steelhead Management Area would protect a nearly 100,000 acre region of Forest Service land north of the North Umpqua River that is one of the most remarkable salmonid sanctuaries in the United States. Not only would this sanctuary conserve this irreplaceable resource, but it would also honor Frank Moore, an American war hero and conservation icon who has been awarded the Wild Steelhead Coalition’s two highest honors – Honorary Lifetime Member and the Wild Steelhead Coalition’s Conservation Award for his work over more than half a century to conserve wild steelhead and their waters.

The Wild Steelhead Coalition is proud to support the Frank Moore Wild Steelhead Designation Act and the great work Pacific Rivers is doing to transform this proposal into a reality.
