On Tuesday, November 13th the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) hosted a public meeting to gather feedback on the proposal to approve a withdrawal of industrial mining rights for the Methow Headwaters region. Thanks to the hard work of the coalition pushing for this mineral withdrawal (a coalition we are proud to be a part of) and the thousands of individuals fighting for the Methow Valley and its wild steelhead, the meeting was a great success. The room was so packed with Methow advocates that it was standing room only, which sent a loud and clear message to the BLM.

As part of this process, BLM also received written comments on the withdrawal. With your help, we flooded the BLM with comments advocating for the protection of this spectacular region and pivotal resource. WSC was excited to submit our own comments as well, which you can read here.
