Fighting for Snake River Steelhead
This month, the Wild Steelhead Coalition joined with 26 conservation, business, and tribal organizations and sent a letter to Senator Murray and Representatives Smith and Jayapal thanking them for their opposition to H.R. 3144. If passed, this legislation would roll back important salmon/steelhead restoration progress, undercut the federal judiciary, and derail a court-ordered environmental review of the Snake River dams, so it is imperative this legislation is defeated.
Senator Murray and Representatives Smith and Jayapal are working vigorously to ensure the demise of this destructive legislation and recently sent a letter to House and Senate leadership communicating their strong opposition to HR 3144. Their support for a full and fair environmental review of salmon and steelhead restoration alternatives for the threatened and endangered populations in the Columbia-Snake River Basin is essential for the future of these invaluable fisheries.
