Washingtonians Want the Snake River Dams Gone

This month the public learned about the critical, albeit not surprising, findings of a survey of Washington voter views of wild salmon and the Snake River Dams. Just as we have known all along, Washington voters highly value wild salmon and steelhead. In fact, a majority of the Evergreen State’s voters prioritize the future of these wild fish over preserving dams and even support a proposal to remove the dams.

Perhaps most importantly, the survey found that as voters learn more about the issue, the more support for dam removal increases. In the face of Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers’ legislation and the formidable forces working to preserve the status quo on the lower Snake, this finding is a powerful reminder that we must double down on our efforts to educate the public about the need to Free during this pivotal moment in the Snake’s history.
